I have to ask as i have few more weeks to change my spec. Does anyone have experience with the new powerkit? I am taken back by the price and seen some comparison graphs with and without. Not much difference on paper other than over 6500 revs. No torgue uplift just horses. Is it worth the ££££ ? Any input welcome.

I would of had it if i could of at the time. The cost is only really an extra £7000 as the PSE and Chrono are added into the price and im sure you would already have these in your spec. Depends if 7k will break your bank. I must admit though that the graphs dont look too impressive (although the bottom line say's 30bhp) so would want a drive before i'd buy

Did not spec pse as found standard noise pretty decent. Also pressing a button for more noise seems more something for a 17y old. Will see if i can get a test in poerkitted car, which could prove tricky. Was hoping some people on here would have experience with t.

If your budget allows, you should have it. wink
Irrespective of what the numbers say, in practice I believe it will make a big difference to your enjoyment and give a noticeable extra zip.

However, it all depends on whether you value additional grunt and will make some use of it or not. The standard motor is pretty pokey anyway. It's unlikely to improve residual value by anything like the extra you will be spending, though.

I doubt many will have specified it as it would have delayed initial orders! Porsche Reading might have one on the press fleet?

Personal view is that it's going to make it more urgent at high revs and if it's anything like the 997 Powerkit (which sounded quite different to the standard car and just felt more urgent everywhere -although the figures don't show that) it'll be enjoyable!

One member on here has a car, I believe it's not run in yet .

The torque drop seems to suggest this pack is for track junkies only.

On a first generation 991 Carrera S, I wouldn't bother.

Why specifically a 1st generation 991?

Consider the 997 generation. How many 997.1 Carrera S are there today? Zillions. How many 991 Carrera S' will there be? Whether powerkit or not, it makes no difference if you are the buyer because you won't get it back come resale, and there will be a stronger/faster version very shortly. Also, the 991 powerkit provides less impressive gains as the previous 997 powerkit. I am not convinced the powerkit offers good VFM when the standard 991S is already such a well balanced (and very quick) standard 911.

My 996 has the X51 and to be honest it is pretty underwhelming when compared to the std 3.6. You would have thought reworked heads, cams, inlet, exhaust and remap would have had more of a dramatic effect on performance. So what are we looking at £300 per 1bhp? Its a large premium to pay IMO. Things may of course be different with the 991. What's the chance of coming across a demo to try before you spec your build?
