My 99 XJR has been faultless since I`ve had it till the alternator went last March, since then I`ve had a number of problems arise.

Firstly my OS indicators started dying, initially the OSF went off permanently, I checked the connectors behind the bumper & cleaned the inner wing earth point, still the same..

I then, as an emergency measure, ran a wire from the side repeater positive to the front indicator, this slowed all 3 lights down & made them dimmer, but at least they worked to some degree, then, I realised they would only work in this state when my lights were off...

Also, when I put the front fogs on, the OS one doesn't work, BUT the OS side repeater comes on instead (constantly).

I`ve checked all the connections in that corner, and given the wires a wiggle to see if there's a broken wire in the vicinity, but no, it remains the same.

Anyone else had this or anything similar?

Also, my instrument pod lights occasionally flicker, but the alternator voltage is correct.

Oh, & today I noticed my rad fans are on as soon as the ignitions put on & remain on constantly (with the AC off).

I`m wondering if its the body processor module...

I just checked again, when I disconnect the wire to the side repeater, the front indicator goes off & the side repeater & rear indicator get brighter & flash at a normal rate.

I then put an LED bulb in the front indicator to reduce the current loading on the flasher unit/circuit, still nothing with the temp wire disconnected, BUT, if I connect the temp fly lead to the side repeater AND put the front fogs on, they start working fine (but the OS front fog wont come on).

Also cleaned & re-greased the earth point.

So, all the OS indicators DO work at a normal speed & brightness, IF I put the front fogs on at the same time, but the sounder in the car flashes at double speed no matter what when indicating right.

If I then turn the indicators off, the OS indicator stays on constant, at the same time as the NS fog being on..

So, to indicate right, I have to move the stalk, then turn the fogs on, & when I`ve finished indicating, turn the fogs off..

I checked the alternator, thats putting out a steady 14.5v-ish throughout the rev range, and I thought I could smell burning electrics at one point, but nothing combusted or smoked.

Confused how the fog is making a difference on a completely different circuit when the earths seem fine...
