While I was out at the North East motor show a couple of weeks ago, there was a 4x4 pick-up with tinted windows, but the top edge was red that graduated into the dark tint. I thought it would look good on the Cerb but the bloke quoted me £250 to do the job. That was a bit too much to gamble on it looking good or rediculous.

When I was in Canada on Holiday, I came across the extact same tint in Walmart for the equivalent of £15, so I bought it. It's now fitted to the Cerb - took the glass out and done it properly myself and was wondering what the PH'ers reaction would be?

Too max powerish, or look cool? I've noticed loads more people looking at it. What do you lot think?

I don't care about the legalities of it, as far as I'm concerned, it's a 35%tint which was legal uptill a few months ago so I'm willing to ride it out till I get stopped and asked to remove it.

Are you ashamed of being seen in the Cerbera like the owner of the 4x4 pickup then?

Wouldn't have thought it advisable to make it even harder to see out of a Cerb!

I think the black window rubber breaks the effect, makes it look like a nasty case of over spray.

Sorry.

Nowt I can do about the window rubber I'm afraid.

LA - I've only done the side windows, as said above, I don't want to make it impossible to see out the car, it's bad enough with clear glass

I should add, you can see through the red bit aswell. From the inside vision is just like wearing very light shaded sunglasses, with no grading aparant.

You may want to read this before the bib have their way:

www.centralscotland.police.uk/news/news.php?id=59

"70% or more visible light must pass through the front side windows otherwise you are committing an offence.

Between 30% and 70% and you'll be asked to remove the tints, usually within 10 days.

Below 30% and your vehicle will receive a prohibition order, requiring a tow truck home!

As most glass comes factory tinted, applying any tint (be it light smoke, dark smoke, or limo black) will take your windows below the 70% VLT required."

Also...

"If you are the driver -
- You must not drive a vehicle on the road with the windscreen or front side windows excessively tinted. You may also invalidate your insurance with this modification, particularly as the vehicle is likely to be illegal."

Not my words, but apparently the law has just changed and there is a bit of a clamp down going on.

Cheers.

Removal is very easy and if a copper gets stroppy and tries to put a prohibition on the car, one good pull on it and it'll all come off. Hopefully :fingerscrossed:

I'd be more worried about it invalidating insurance... I'd give 'em a call to let them know you've got tinted windows, even if it means claiming "they came with it", but you didn't think to tell them at the time

Think they look really good, though, but what would I know -I'm about to have the Tuscan painty in a coppery-gold colour...

You need to get some clear repeaters on the side of the car.

Reading this again and it sounds very negative, sorry, just wanted to say that it was not my cup'o'tea.

I should be supporting a fellow owners enthusiasm rather than letting my hangover provide feedback on somebody else’s pride and joy.

Good luck!

What would be a great addition to cerbies, if someone sources a manufacturer to make windows that hook onto the alarm system, and when armed, the windows go dark.... or manual override in the cabin... seen it on a rappers bently, wander what it would cost? mmmm
