2006 Subaru Forester 2.5 - Talk to me

Am I missing something here? I have been pondering between an Impreza and an Evo for next year, but they are a bit shouty for me - I want something quick, preferably 4wd for the winter months, with a bit of subtlety so as to avoid the attention of the local fast and furious brigade. So when I actually stopped to look at the stats on these - 0-60 in under 6, quicker again with a PPP pack, they seem like a good sleeper. I have looked at STi versions before but at 11k+ are a bit out of budget at the moment against £8k for a standard XTE model.

One of these + a decent set of springs - a B-road monster? Anyone have any experience or alternatives?

I have just bought a 2005 2.5 XTn. Literally only had it a few days, so far so good.

I am quite tall and find there is not much adjustment in the steering wheeel. It certainly goes well enough. I believe the 2006 ones got a bit more power. Be aware that those registered after 23rd March 2006 pay a lot more car tax, I believe they are in the band L so £460 a year against £270.
