Hi all, other half has booked some flights to Venice. Somewhere i have wanted to tick the box to visit, has anyone any decent B&B / Hotel recommendations. Fancy somewhere half decent but would consider an interesting decent quality non-chain B & B if came recommended.

Also will look to have x2 nice evening meals. again prefer a 'local' recommended type of venue where individual service / value is often better.

I shall watch this thread as we're planning on going there soon.

Quick question from me, I've heard people say that it's not 'all that', and that parts of it are pretty smelly/dirty, is there any truth in that at all?

Due to its proximity to the water there can be a bit of a smell yes, wouldn't class it as dirty though.

I would have gone for 3 to 4 days myself and spend one of them at lake Garda.

Isn't it flooded at the moment and wasn't there a similar thread the other day - worth looking out for - seems a regular question

I work in travel and have sold the Hotel Santa Marina plenty of times and get great feedback from clients. It is a 4* independent hotel in a great location.

Prices vary depending on when you want to go obviously but for an example 2 nights starting 25th Jan will set you back £155 with continental breakfast.

Have no idea about where to eat as I have never been there myself. Apparently eating in St Mark's Square will bankrupt you.

I'd say make sure you are in a hotel on Venice Island and also that you get speedboat transfers from the airport.

There is a tourist tax on the hotel. 1 whole euro per star rating of the hotel per night.

Hope that helps.
