Hello,

Im picking up my 2001 impreza wrx later today and was wondering if there was a proper way to start the car?

I know from having had a mazda rx8 before the horror stories of not starting thr car properly and the engine flooding as a result. im assuming the wrx will not be as bad but dont want to knacker the engine. i dot plan on thrashing the car from vold, just some tips. btw the car is totally standard.

Thank

Rotary engine is alien technology and something very different to a Flat-4. Subaru are a bit more conventional.

Subaru start really well, even when it's freezing cold or damp. Drive it straight away, don't sit there for ages waiting for it to warm up, just start and go. Don't give it a spanking until it's properly warmed up and at normal operating temp. Don't press the gas pedal before starting it up.

Enjoy your new wheels and welcome to the fold biggrin

Low compression engine so starts up on a half turn ish.

Most scoobs Don't like the throttle being touched During cold starting. it tends to @@@@ up the starting routine.
