Zetec starting help

Im running a 2.0L Zetec which is a b to start.

Its on a Type 9 (Sierra) gearbox with zetec fly wheel. It will fire first time but only when the battery is 101%. If the batt is only 98% the engine will only fire on 1st crank.
I think the starter may be the fault. I have replaced it with a CVH one. The origonal had a spacer not sure what Ford its off.

iv got a zetec with an mt75 box, im usint the starter off the ford 2L twin cam engine (8v)
