My dad had a phase 1 Peerless 40 yrs ago if that helps! I'd have one today if I could. What are you thinking anyway?

Nothing specifically, I have a GK and the Peerless/Warwick were part of the GK inception. Nice looking motors, a 3.5 V8 would be a fine car.

I get to read about them alot because of their TR underpinnings, we share an owners club. They're very cool, like a graphic novel cad's car.

When I was a TR register owner our Kent RO of the time had a Rover V8 powered Peerless, a bit flawed but pretty quick!

There was a lovely Peerless racing at the Classic Le Mans this year - French or Belgian owned judging by the Youtube description ?

Interesting cars, I used to see a red one quite regularly running around in South Glamorgan can't remember when I last saw it (had a four number then SM registration) I had to check as I was sure there was some tie up with MFI; I was right, the last batch of Peerless Phase 2 were sold by D.A.Mullard Ltd of Middlesex, (who went on to become Mullard Furniture Industries) fortunately they were not sold flat-pack but were prepared by Lawrencetune.

I had a 1958 Peerless, and thanks to the pain of job security I had to sell it. I spent a year trying to find one and I can't tell you how disappointed I was to let it go.

Have some pictures of them being built

If I won the lottery I'd be building an empire now doing them as a kit car. One of the very few British low volume cars of the time that was really good looking.

Great post Gareth. Its one of those car makes that I think should have a little space on PH, hence I started the thread.

I'm sure I recall someone posting pics of one that was in the middle of restoration, a white one.

Ah yes, that is the pics I remember, did it get finished?

Shame you had to sell it, I sold an MGA 1500 due to threat of redundancy a few years ago, 1800 five bearing motor with ported head, 5 speed box and tall diff, looked pretty and went like the clapeprs, I'd have kept that one.

£20k yikes

Here's a picture of my dad's which I think we sold for about £300 (but that was around 1970!)

Strangely on DVLC website it shows:

Date of Liability 20 03 2013
Date of First Registration 08 12 1959
Year of Manufacture Not Available
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1991cc
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour WHITE

Yet no-one in the Peerless / Warwick register has any knowledge of it and believe it to have been scrapped

I'm afraid that's a little too rough for the rose tinted filtering in my eyes....

Its got a lot of potential*.

  • As us wooden boat owners say, potential is the amount of work you've got to do.

I don't my Grandad bloody loves them! Awesome cars.

He's got a Phase One and Two as well as a Warwick

ETA

Only picture I have to hand, taken back in April... The Phase One is now fully restored and on the road. The Phase 2 has been on the road since 1998 and is regularly driven by my Grandfather all over the UK and Europe!
