Veteran Car Run
Discussion
Good news! The weekend of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run approaches! On Friday there will be an auction of some of the cars particpating, Saturday is the Regent Street Motor Show and the run itself is on Sunday.
About 200 of the pre-1904 cars on the run will be at the Motor Show from 12pm-4pm, as well as a display of British cars over the years because it is Her Majesty's Jubilee year. There will be some electric cars as well, but I think I shall avoid them.
On the day of the run the 500+ veterans will leave Hyde Park from 7:00am and follow the A23 to Brighton, arriving from 10:00am.
The Veteran Car Run, the work of the Veteran Car Club, is a long running event that has been taking place almost non-stop since the '20s and it commemorates the Emancipation Run of 1896, which was a London to Brighton run for all motorists wishing to celebrate the abolition of the red flag man and the speed limit being raised to 14mph.
Participants on this year's run include Genevieve, Nick Mason, Stirling Moss, Charlie Boorman and the world's oldest Vauxhall.

It's a great event if you've not been.
