Lightning Near Bristol

This has been parked in a transport yard near the M4 junction 18 for a while. Does anyone know about it?

Been parked up for quite a while now, Seen it a few times Rob. That be Gregory's old yard. Thought it strange being there!

ambled past this one yesterday, still looks good despite sans wings etc .

have looked around but cant see, are there any still on the flying/display circuit in the uk?

Sadly the Lightning no longer flies in the UK.

Since the demise of Thunder City in South Africa I'm not sure whether any are flying anywhere these days.

No, there are none flying certainly in the UK and, as of year or two ago, anywhere in the world. The CAA wont allow a supersonic jet which is fuel critical before it gets off the ground to fly on a civil permit. Thunder City in SA operated 4 until their chief pilot, Dave Stock, was killed in T5 ZU-BEX recently after a hydraulic failure during an airshow. I heard they hadn't flown a Lightning since Dave died.

They were all put up for sale and after reading the accident report and the complete disregard to maintenance schedules and parts replacement they should never be allowed near another aircraft again.

Yep a small Anhedral angle. Other than the Jaguar Im thinking high wing cargo/passenger aircraft like the Avro RJ85 and the Boeing C17.
