I went to look at a 2002 seicento today, as a possible winter daily driver. It only seems to have one key, I dont think these came with the red master key.

Whats involved with getting a new spare key - is it a bend over in the fiat dealer affair?

Thanks for the link. I had trouble with the search facility. I will phone the fiat dealer today.

This chap is London based. Ricky 07966 297 387

Cheaper by far but may need to see the car itself.

just in case anyone wants to know the answer to the question, I was quoted £150-200 from fiat dealer and £175-200, from an independent automotive locksmith

Could be wrong on this, but I believe the "proper" way is get a factory blank from a dealer that has an authorized ID in the transponder chip (this is why eBay blanks don't work - you need a real ID, not a cloned one), and then add that as a new ID in your car's ECU roll.

The much faster and cheaper way is to simply clone your existing key onto a generic blank, which should be quite straightforward at a Timpson or similar.

I await the inevitable correction...
