I park my griff outside on the drive so need a decent cover for the winter. I originally used cover-zone in ilford but they dont last very long. I had a monsoon which fell apart after 2 years, they then recommended a Stormforce and that lasted 2.5 years, now its useless lets water in like a sieve. The material seems to fall apart after a while. been told its to do with the ultraviolet rays breaking down the fabric.

Has anybody got any better recommendations, I want a cover that reasonably fits the Griff , waterproof and windproof and doesnt cost an arm and a leg. My budget is about £150 ...

Personally I'd buy a Leven cover as they are more robust and will cause less damage to your paintwork. There is the odd one knocking about 2nd hand at about £90-£100.
New ones are £132 + VAT.

just googled Classic Additions heavy duty outdoor car covers and found post on Passionford forum saying he had same trouble as me after 18months of use.

It seems the breathable car covers do not last very long, the material breaks down after 18months and start to leak badly.

it would be cheaper in long run to buy a cheap cover which would last up to 2 years and renew it.

Fleabay here i come ....

thanks for advice its worth investigating before laying out hard earned cash

Full cover WILL damage the paintwork so it will be a trade off between paint damage or kid damage.
Suggest moving house or park nearer the kerb.

What i meant was, I park on my drive which is only 4 foot longer than the car so car is 2 foot from pavement. I would love to move to a place with a large drive with Electric gates but being retired, funds cant stretch that far.

I have used full covers for 8 years on my griff and never had a scratch from them. mind you the car was resprayed last year in a 2 pack which is much harder than the original finish. It was only resprayed cause of a minor accident not because of the cover.

Thanks for the advise though, in the long run full cover will protect car from heavy rain, snow, frost etc. and dont forget gawking kids,,,,

cheers Alex

Was only jesting. The Leven cover fits like a glove and covers the area likely to suffer damage or water ingress, ie the bit that sticks up from the body which civers roof panel, glass and persepx rear screen. If the rest gets wet who cares? If I was a young kid (oh how I wish) then I'd be more interested in something under a full cover than something I could see, and would wnat to see what was underneath the cover.
All full covers I've seen have some slack, or fix under arches etc., and by their nature will flap so I can't see how they wouldn't cause damage, however minor.
