The best performance Aston for £50k?

Hi All,

In the new year I will be embarking upon my first AM experience and I'll be looking for the best bang for my bucks. Coupe, manual, and superb performance.

The car will be a weekend/holiday car and will be used for trips into europe, up to scotland and general Sunday drives in the countryside.

I've always loved Astons, and I know my question has many answers, but please do pop in your collective 2p's worth

Either a Manual 4.7 Vantage here



or a Manual DB9 (Do get them as coupe as well but rare either way) here



Or a much cheaper DB9 or V8 4.3 and a trip to Bamford Rose with the balance.

Define performance? Better acceleration? Better handling? Better track times? Sort of helps to decipher between them - the V8V is probably better handling but the DB9 is a faster in a straight line. Plus you get 4 extra cylinders which proves you're getting more for your money.

The difference in performance is minimal, put a good driver in the "slowest" car and he will annihilate an average ( nearly all of us on here) driver in the fastest car, all these cars are faster than we can exploit.
And the v12is a ford enginex2, the v8 a dry sumped race engine.

To me better performance covers all aspects of the cars driving characteristics. I'm not looking for more top end bhp only, but more usable power and the handling to get the power down.

You might just find one for £50k. Once you driven it, listened to the exhaust and seen the beautifull lines in the flesh you won't want any other Aston. Another benefit is that it will not depreciate like a Gaydon car. Definitely the biggest bang for your buck! The one and only original Vanquish of course!

I'm no expert, but a manual DB9 usually has a manual gearbox. That one is little bit automatic, just a little bit.

As to the question of bang for buck at 50k... manual DB9 coupe with sports pack for around 40k and then Bamford Rose manifolds and catalysts for 500+BHP. And better brakes if there's dosh left over

Bloody hell, it is listed as Manual and the description says manual as well as Touchtronic. I would want to buy from that dealer they clearly know their cars. Have another

When I was looking I found a lot of adds were wrong, even main dealer adds weren’t much better, kind of makes you think they're not that bothered.
