Range Rover TDV8 for winter? Advice Please!

I'm thinking about buying one to run through winter. I had a test drive of the 4.4 TDV8 the other day which was great but I couldn't justify that amount of money if I’m going to sell it in spring.

So Anyway, firstly I would b looking at 2007/2008 (so the 3.6) what's the reliability like? Would it be worth getting a warranty put on? Can Land Rover do that?

Also I don't know too mu8ch about them but what comes as standard? These would be the only things I'd be after:
Heated front seats
Heated rear seats (Ideally although it's not vital)
Sat Nav
Parking sensors (I'm not fussed if it has a camera)
Heated steering wheel (not sure if this was available on the 07/08 cars the new one i drove had it)

Any advice appreciated!

Why not buy a 4.4 and keep it past Spring?

Hi, I have had my 2007 TDV8 Vogue SE for about three years now, it has covered about 72000 miles it has been remapped and touch wood nothing major has gone wrong. The alternator has been replaced and the cooling seats have given me a few issues but it is fantastic. I would never be without one now, mainly used by the wife. The Vogue will have all the extras that you want and the SE version gives you directional headlights which are brilliant and few other bits and pieces.

I do have a warranty just incase the horror stories you hear about with regards to gearbox and turbo failure come true. Very comfotable car for long trips and very handy and easy to manouvre around town, a doddle to park with the reversing camera.

Even with 22 inch wheels it is superb in the snow, I had a Cayenne S before and this so much better. Good on fuel considering the size of it, we live in London so it does about 18 to the gallon which is similar to my cls320cdi over similar journeys.

IIRC - All those come as standard.

The TDV8 is a cracking engine. As you'll only have it for a short while, I wouldn't bother with the warranty and just put the money you save towards the first bill (if there is one).

Buy one and I guarantee you keep it after spring.

Folks got one as a third car, mother hated it at first, now it's their favourite car.

I am on my 5th Range Rover. These cars are brilliant. Sold our TdV 3.6 after 75.000 largely trouble free miles back in March. Bought a Range Rover Sport Autobiography 3.0 instead (as I wanted something different) but especially the wife hated it so much that we changed it for a Westminster after 3 weeks (and lost a package). The Westminster is brilliant and I expect that prices will hold up quite nicely as the new RR (as brilliant as it is) is too big for London traffic and also about 30k more expensive. Also the lead times are going into mid 2014 at the main London dealer.
