I've got the same for a few others, E46 M3, E39 M5 and the normal models too.

In light of my current woes, if I was to get hold of one each of these items direct from LUK/Sachs or wherever, would BMW fit them and retain the AUC warranty? Do they have to be genuine BMW parts in genuine BMW boxes?

Good stuff-thanks Eddie.
Interesting reading although a lot to take in. Like things like the two electric oil pumps in the sump to get oil from the heads over .8 lateral-g ! Bit different to the morris Minor engines I was brought up on (hope to fk that nothing horrid goes wrong with mine).
