Last few weeks i have been getting a reflux of water on checking the water level.
Any ideas why this could be, it seems to be full to the top, though im not too sure!

Thanks in advance

If its boiling up then you have a leak somewhere or there is a blockage..It wont always foam if the head gasket is going..Mine only did it at last salute when it failed completely..Although a hydrocarbon test proved positive..Ziga

If its coming out when its hot then it should have a bit of pressure..Is your thermostat opening?..Does the rad get evenly hot?..Does all the pipework get hot, Especially the lower radiator hose..Have you a cooling fan which is thermostatically operated?..Is it coming on just after the thermostat has opened..

Zig

This is when the engine is cold 'checking the water level'. Soon as i open the top to check, bubbles up and water all over. Looks full though im sure its not...

If it does it when cold it sounds like its over filled. Wedges (V8) like to find their own levels so make sure the overflow tank if you have one is nearly empty, then run it as normal but keep an eye on the levels. Mine has about a third of collant in the over flow tank and in the main expansion tank it sits at the bottom of the level stick. check the condition of the pressure cap it might be worth replacing if its been on for a while.

"Cold"..Mmmm.scratchchin..I think as chris has said...My 280 used to do this if i over-filled the expansion tank..It would hold pressure from hot to cold until i removed the cap and then it would spill out..My water level on the V6 is about a 1/4" under the plastic indicator tip inside the expansion tank...As said it should find its own level..Ziga

Yes i would agree with the others, mine did this when i changed the anti freeze and it took a few runs for it to find its level.

Is it leaking out ? Could it simply be a worn out radiator cap ?
