There is a lot of debate around this. I have a decat and loud cans but not had the remap and haven't had any issues. Personally i don't think you need it, If you put in the tuscan S style big bore exhaust system then id definitely recommend it but with just the decat id say it was more of a nice to have rather than an essential but i'm sure others will disagree...

I've just re-fitted the cats on my Tuscan S, was too tinny for me. I did however get the rear silencers sleeved at the same time and I think the noise now is superb. There was no remapping work required.

As per the previous post the sound of the car is very much each to their own.

Was there any difference felt in the car with de-cats barring the extra noise.

Mine is decatted and I have protech cans.
When I first drove her after the decat, I was amazed at the extra power but then she also felt more powerful when I changed the wiper blades wink
I ran it for about 18 months on the original chip but always had a feeling that she wasnt quite happy.
Last summer the ECU blew when I was down in France and we put a second hand replacement from a Tuscan 2 S. Again she ran pretty good but with the occasional stutter ???

This year she has been running pretty crap and its taken quite a while to identify the problem.
In August I went down to Dom's in Coventry and had a decat fitted.
She seemed better and 3 days later We headed for Spain. Bla Bla Bla but the problem reappeared but we were able to still drive.
Last week TorqueRVT identified that the Coil Pack was damaged and so replaced it.

So now she is running great and I think better than she ever has. I dont know how much the decat chip is contributing to the improvement.
I want to drive back to Spain now and enjoy the drive how it should have been.

evening fellas..

i have the decat pipes.. with the ccc loud cans.

the pipes were bespoke made for the previous owner by edward quick, Peter wheelers exhaust designer i understand.

The sound is insane. a deep menacing rumble at low revs, and at the top of the gear it makes u wanna laugh ! it cracks on up shifts, spits blue flashes on down shifts and sounds like an italian v8 around 4000 revs.

It is not tinny. in the slightest.

i guess the point is they are all different in outcome depending on the workmanship and equipment etc.

all of this is imho. wink

Hexham Horseless Carriages refitted the old cats and sleeved the exhaust, however both would be pretty straight forward to do yourself (HHC were completing a 12k service on the car so I just got them to do it - cost was nominal).

One question I would ask us what are the reasons for the de-cat?

I love in London and the car regularly gets upto 94C running temp on oil and water. Since putting the decays on it has removed some of the residual heat from the engine bay being temps down to high eightys for most the time now which is better for a number of reasons.

If you are looking for a deeper noise another alternative would be to remove the rear boxes. It's about the same cost as a decat and easy to do. I spoke to UKCerb at Sunday service who has had it done on his Tuscan and it sounded awesome. Much deeper sound than mine with decat and loud CCC's (he also had loud CCC's) this would also save the hassle come mot time. There is another topic around this from a while back with some videos of various setups.

I have recently had my Tuscan decatted after 9 years of ownership. I have loud CCC cans. The noise is much deeper and not tinny at all. I really got it done to reduce engine temperatures which it has done very well. The car feels a bit more torqey as well (no remap).

Finally uploaded a video from earlier this year. Think it was eptember juging by the weather.

I love the sound even though she was being diagnosed with engine problems. (turned out to be a damaged coil pack).
