Just arrived after a nice 1000 km drive from Denmark to Belgium in 8 hours, the M5 performing flawlessly and taking full advantage of the derestricted autobahns, when not caught up in traffic or in very heavy rain.

This gave me the opportunity to play fuel light bingo, albeit involuntarily as when I had a 20 km range and pulled in to refuel that petrol station was actually closed and had to continue another 30 km... So, with a zero range showing, driving at very light footed 120 kph I drove at least 15 km and finally made it to the next petrol station and put in 66 litres.

Now, I know that the fuel tank is meant to be 70 litres, but I assume that my tank was pretty much empty, or the fuel warning is very conservative? Has anyone put 70 litres or more in? (My previous car, an X3, nominally had a 67 litre tank but on one occasion that took 72 litres!) How I wish a retrofit 90 litre tank was possible!

5 litre reserve in there, which is why 70 is possible.

I put between 61-66l of fuel in at every fill up so tank must be around 70l at least.
