What do these DVLA records mean?

So if you pump a reg no. into the DVLA sitw with the make you can get the details.
If you get info back like this (see below) ie that the car is untaxed - does that mean it hasn't been scrapped and so written off the books?
And so could be sitting in some lock up or salvage yards etc? Some reg nos I input come up with no records available. Are these cases where the cars were scrapped BEFORE the records were computerised?

The "Date of Liability" is the last date the VED was due for that particular car and registration number combination.
Both car and number could have been scrapped, but the car could still exist somewhere (scrapyard, barn, etc), or the car could have been registered under another number, or the number could have been assigned to a different car.
Cartell Car Check is a useful tool for searching for registration numbers, without having to know the make of car (unlike the DVLA).
It gives less information, but tells you the make of vehicle so you can use that in a DVLA search.

Yes, get all that but if the thing was scrapped then why wouldn't it say - SCRAPPED etc - makes it sound like it could be out there as lots of cars I know ARE out there come out the same - DVLA don't tell you - they're probably wondering why anyone would need to know.
So if the DVLA site comes up with no known record etc - even though I know the make and reg no are correct - does that mean it never made it onto their database when it was computerised etc?

The DVLA records are not always complete or accurate.
They're also not keen on giving too much information away, especially for free.
They can also be a pain to deal with for no apparent reason.
They also have exemptions under the Data Protection Act to enable them to divulge your personal data for money.

OP not everybody tells the authorities what they’ve done or are doing with their vehicles for various reasons so records wont be complete or accurate so the DVLA database isn’t complete or accurate and just think of all those salespeople rushing new car paperwork when they want to get onto the next sale or just can’t be bothered
I’ve always the staff at the DVLA to be friendly and helpful, always remember it’s a two way thing not all their customers are great to deal with
like I suspect all of us in my life I’ve dealt with stupid, ignorant, awkward, unpleasant, nasty, etc,. customers and I’ve been a stupid, ignorant, awkward customer myself (hopefully not unnecessarily unpleasant or ever nasty but that’s only my judgement)
