2k Dilemma

Hi guys, too cut a long story short I'm after a quick motor for around 2k, think I've made my mind up between a BMW E36 328i or an Accord Type R?

But which one? They both have there advantages and disadvantages but still can't decide?

Also I've looked for other quick cars for that value, am I missing another peach?

do you need a hatchback ?

There's way more to each of these cars than letting needing a hatchback or not decide which one you want. There's plenty of debate to be had; 6 cylinder vs 4 cylinder, high revving power vs torque, RWD vs FWD.

Drive them and then decide.

Speaking from experience having owned an Accord Type R, they're cracking. They are a real hoot on the right twisty road, engines are willing and although its not really geared for long motorway stints, (revs quite high at 70mph and a 6th gear wouldn't go a miss) its still a brilliant all rounder. Seats are really comfortable, plenty of space, big boot, relatively cheap to run, only annoying thing is you have to rev the bks off it right to the red line and snap gear changes to keep in in vtec between gears, strangely rewarding when you get it right though.

Also, pre facelifts look better than the later facelift cars and personally,I reckon they look better than an E36. Just watch out for worn 5th gear synchros.

For me, the Accord edges it (only just), they should both be around the same in a straight line, but I reckon the Accord will have the 328i on a track. But whichever you get depends on how your going to use the car, if your going to do long commutes, like long motorway journeys, I'd rather get the (more comfortable) 328i.

Hatchback or saloon not fussed, not really doing too many miles so commuting is out

I really fancy an Accord but the looks really put me off as the BM is better looking but I think the mechanicals of the type R are better from a drivers point of view
