I would like to ask the greater PH community about their opinion on the best colour scheme for the (early-model) Arnage I am plannng to buy.

I am currently looking at one in very dark green with tan leather - the "traditional English" colour combo, very late 1990ies, suits the car well, but looks a bit too "official".

Another one is silver/black - the silver paint nicely disguises the chrome and makes the car look very modern. Black interior could make the car look a bit gloomy. Still, the overall effect is "modern".

What do you think?

Black exterior is out of the question as it lacks depth and does not go along with my style.

Also nice - a bit too Primeministery for me.

I think that the silver cheapens the look of the car slightly, not sure why.
I would prefer the green as these are about as traditional as cars get.

And that is exactly the look I am trying to avoid.

Well maybe green/cream is the way to go.

Anyone had a "Silver Tempest" one? Grey-ish with a slight pink hue.

My old Red Label was black on black with limo tints.....used to get so much attention, made me feel like a film star cool

That is very kind but they are too small.

A nice dark metallic (verdant green?) with oxblood interior would be my selection.

They also do a nice green black (Black emerald I think).

Oxblood!

So, a darker red? I think this looks great on 1960ies cars...but here?

Anything this size/prestige needs to be dark exterior, light interior.

Lighter exteriors with darker interiors only work on cheaper cars IMO.

For example:

Prestige. TVR Chimaera

Non Prestige. Toyota MR2

Prestige. 7 Series

Non Prestige. Vectra

All are perfectly agreeable interiors given the cars they are in.

However this pic of a silver Arnage just looks bland to me.

Black/black even more so.

A much more quality look IMO.

Silver exterior is boring and practical and (as my dad says) "doesn't show the scratches as much". Very dull and low quality look compared to a well kept and polished darker colour.

Similarly with interiors, my black leather wears very well and is rather dull/practical. A well kept cream leather looks much higher quality. All IMO of course, my choice would be dark green with cream leather like my last pic.

ETA: As for red leather, my first thought was the same as yours. Much more suited to something older.

Good post from samdale, well illustrated.

My personal choice would be very dark red with cream interior, but out of the options in the OP, green is the way to go IMO.

At the older end of the Arnage scale pricewise, colour is the last thing to worry about.......if there are 20 older cheaper Arnage available I would imagine 15 will be in poor condition/dubious or non existant histories, needing a fortune spending on them to make them anywhere like decent

Personally, I prefer darker interiors, possibly with a bit of contrast piping or carpets:

But, it's your money, your car, have the colour combination that you want.

Navy blue with a biscuit interior.

The very light interiors look good in the showroom, but if you plan to use the car the slightly darker tan will keep better.

Also gunmetal with a navy blue interior looks good.

Having said that the last Bentley I went in had a green drivers seat blue passenger seat and tan rear seats, the joys of living near Crewe :-)

Peacock, magnolia, burr walnut, red badging, red coachstripe. Rear picnic tables are also a must.

That goes without saying. Still - this is a vanity purchase so I am not in a hurry. Saw a silver/black Arnage R at Hanwells (yes, PCD, but they are the only ones which are easily accessible for me when in the UK. And they do have a huge range of cars on site. And they are friendly and do not make a big fuss about their cars, as if they were precious antiques), and that combo looked "modern" but a bit soulless at the same time.

Most "T"s have black diamond quilt leather and that really looks like....does anyone have a good cliché? Like made for people who wear black leather jackets, for example.
