Cheap wiper blades worth it?

Hi All,

Mrs Ice's Mercedes C-Class W204 2008 needs wipers.

I think branded Bosch or Valeo are approx £30-35 per pair.

Whilst shopping in Asda, I saw some Asda brand flat wipers for just a few quid each.

Will they fit and are they any good?

They'll be ok, probably, go to your local motor factors and get them for 60% of Halfords prices

Aero-vu flat blade wipers from ebay serve me well. Got 2 years of perfect cleaning from the first pair I tried.

I'd try the wiperblades.co.uk website. The aeroblades are really good. Much better than the old metal ones.

My old man used to say "we're too poor to buy cheap." IMO i'd just pay the extra to not have to worry about them. Not saying there won't ever be a problem, but you'll have a lot more rantability with something with a brand on.

There you go - £36 for the Bosch Aerotwin for the OPs car, plus £2.95 delivery.

Vs £32, fitted, from his local MB dealer.

Most silicone blades are made in the same factory to the same specs (apart from those claiming unusual profiles). I put an Ebay cheapo set on my wife's ML W164 two years ago and they're still fine.

If 6 quid is cheap i say yes well worth it. I buy the aero blades from Tesco's run them on all 3 of our cars and find them great, been on our daily mini for nearly 2 years now and holding up great.

Cheap wiper blades for me fall into the same category as cheap tyres. For the most part they'll be fine, but when you really need them, they will let you down in a big way by making a bad situation much worse.

Costco are doing Goodyear flat wiper blades.... not too dear either..

The cheap 'flat blade' jobbies the previous owner has put on my car have no branding on them and the metal part of their construction has gone rusty, whilst they do a crap job of clearing the screen and they're also really bloody noisy! So I'd say cheap ones are a false economy, yes.

I'll order some Bosch Aerotwin wipers again when I can justify it.

I had a customer who asked to price up a set of wiper blades for a volvo i think a few weeks back come to 50 odd quid the customer was shocked at the price and to be honest so was i.
How can wiper blades cost so much they are a bit of rubber attached to a bit of plastic surely no more than 50p to make.

Just ordered these and fitted 'em to my missus Jazz this week. They are absolutely fine tbh. The construction appears barely different to the OEM Honda ones I stuck on my Accord recently and they work perfectly. No juddering and wipe very smoothly.

I stuck some Poundland wipers on an old winter hack last year, and to my surprise they were fine all season. They were only supposed to last a day or two until I could get some decent ones.
