This past week-end we were competing with the CanAm at one of our favourite car shows called the All Wheels Nationals put on by Cruisin New England Magazine. A co-sponsor this year is General Motors.
Much to our surprise, we were invited to display and enter the CanAm in their "Elite Dream Machine" show held at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, one of the largest Casinos in the World.

Only 100 cars are invited, and range from Muscle Cars to million dollar antiques. The cars will be on display on the carpeted floor of their 10,000 seat arena July 2,3, and 4, 2005.
Each car will have it's own stantioned area.
We expect it will take about 2 weeks to prepare the car for this type of show, as most cars will have mirrors on the floor, so the undercarriage can be viewed. We had our first experience of this level of judging last year at the Boston World of Wheels (over 100,000 visitors during the 3 days). Although we won the Award of Excellence, we were runner-up for the class win. I knew I was in trouble when I saw one of the judges looking at the carpet behind the seat with a flashlight and mirror, a spot I couldn't reach with the vaccuum without taking the seat out. With over 7000 miles on the car, that cost us the win to a Daytona Coupe that had never been driven.
The week-end of the show is our July 4th long one, and hopefully we'll see some Ultima people there.

And, are you going to take the seats out to clean this time? I don't know what you were thing, Jack!!! ...entering a car in a show without taking the seats out for a basic cleaning.
You are lucky they didn't pull the head studs to see if there was too much lube at the bottom of the threads!!!!! Be careful... Is that rubber band still inside the bell housing from the install?

As a matter of fact, we did not use a rubber band. I felt this would be more positive.

Just talked to someone who was invited to bring his 1965 Corvette coupe last year. Food and tickets for shows are free, and suites are 1/2 price. Because the cars are protected, it's not necessary to be with them all the time, so you can wander around and enjoyed the facilities (food, gambling, shows).
He says it's one great weekend, and I do plan on bringing the car home!! (I'll be using my wife's money at the blackjack tables!!)
