VW Passat - what should be illuminated on the centre console.

Quick question; ever since I took ownership of my Passat I've wondered if the fan/temp/direction dials should be illuminated like everything else... My VW dealer claims no, a fellow Passat owner says yes.
Answers on a postcard?

Are you talking about the new model since 2011?

If this is anything like my old Toledo then there is a separate lamp for the temperature controls. I changed it by using some pliers to remove the central dial and then use some small nose pliers to reach in and get to the lamp.

If its a Passat B5 or 5.5 I assume it may be the same kind of set up.

Apologies, it's a 2000 build.

A b5.5 then? There ase a couple of variations of interior in those, but these are the ones with dials

Had the same on my 2000 Bora, need to change the bulb as highlighted in a post above. Your dealer is talking rubbish.
