Sansui c-2101, c-2102 Phillips & cd960 value
Discussion
Hi, I have a very old but fully functioning sansui preamplifier c-2101, a sansui amp c-2102 and a Phillips cd960.
This was pretty pricey stuff when new and received rave reviews.
There is a little occasional feedback just after turning it on and the cd draw mechanism whirs but doesn't open (broken pulley?). Otherwise it is fully functioning and still gives a cracking sound. My wife hates it as it is big and the speakers are stand alone cabinets so take up quite a lot of space, so she won't let me set it up in our freshly renovated house.
So what is this lot worth and should I keep hold of them or get shot?
Regards

I certainly wouldn't get rid of the CD960 after I had mine restored to a fully functioning standard yesterday. It sounds amazing! It will definitely be perished belts causing your problem with the cd drawer - I ordered a recommended repair kit from the US off Ebay and it was only when Audio T looked at it that they said 2 of the belts were the wrong size - I am very surprised they had the correct belts in stock (this machine dates from '86!) but it pops in and out with the severity of "Arkwright's Till" now
You will have to pay north of £5k at least to find something made as well these days, and I certainly can't afford that! Thanks for that, I'm sure it is just the beltas I can hear the mechanism working.
I had It all hooked up again tonight (wife out) and the sound is terrific.....which is a shame as my wife has pointblank refused to let it stay.
Any thoughts on the sansui amp and preamp, whereas best to sell old high end kit like this? It would be nice if it went to someone who appreciates it.
