Would you beleive it, one of the hottest days of the year and my up-to-now excellent fans failed to kick in, Sod's Law I guess :-(
Checked the fuses, relays, contacts etc and then consulted "The Bible". Shorting out the Otter switch cured the problem, so its a dead Otter.
So, where is the best place to get a new switch (may as well be a a low temp one) fitted in the Cambridge area ?
Is this a job worthy of me claiming on my warranty? (100 mile round trip to the dealer).
TIA

Hi dave.
Not sure of a supplier in cambridge area, but the job itself is very easy. If your quick, you can unscrew the old one and screw the new one in and lose only a spoonfull of water. I fitted the lower temp one, it was about 12 quid inc vat i think.
Ditch the otter,(that was so sad in the film) replace the troublesome otter with a Kenlowe, external type. No need to mess with the "water". Unplug the otter, plug in new type, strap to hose and thats it. You can even adjust its cut in point. I have used these for 5 yrs.The original otter was an emergency for a Range Rover, but the "Rangie" had a great big thermo coupled fan so it never used the otter!

Do you need to puchase the whole Kenlowe fan kit or can you just get the thermo switch bit? My otter decided to fail in France a few weeks ago and where a lone paper clip saved the day. I like the Kenlowe control idea as I was considering an overide switch but being able to adjust the temp at which the fans cut in would be really useful when in hotter climes.
