Transition insurance when in between cars .......

Question for those that have been in this situation before .....
Purchased another car to replace my daily drive, its not a px deal so still have my original and have advertised it for sale. Now obviously I need to insure both and have searched for some quotes based on my no claims status that I currently have, but will the new policy accept my no claims on my current car? I can't just cancel my existing policy because I still own the car, and potential purchases would rightly expect a test drive before thinking of buying, I know on my tvr on a limited Milage seldom use basis they mirrored my no claims but not sure a mainstream policy would do the same, so can I insure two cars at the same time with the same no claim status even for a hopefully short period? ..... if not am I about to get shafted cost wise? .
