What would have happened to this car?
Discussion
Around ten years ago, I was guarding a car showroom.
In the middle of the night I noticed a brand new and unregistered Clio full of smoke.
The fire brigade were called, and put out a small electrical fire behind the dashboard.
The car had next to no fire damage, but suffered smoke and water damage.
I never found out what happened to this car.
Would it have been scrapped, repaired, auctioned as is or other?
I personally think it would end up at a motor salvage sale, but not sure what cat it would have been, cat B possibly?

Electrical fire damaged cars are basically never repaired because it's almost impossible to repair them satisfactorily and guarantee the fire won't re-occur. Water damaged cars are seldom repaired because often electrical damage results (again, you can't guarantee the car will function normally afterwards) and also because the only satisfactory way to repair in either case is to replace the entier interior to rid the car of smells/dampness.
I would've thought the car was declared a cat 'C' or worse, and probably went through a salvage auction. The car was probably dismantled for parts.
