Afternoon,

Doing a new install in my lounge and routing all the cables into the walls - wanted to know the the new range of Samsungs, mainly the D8000 range, use the normal kettle power lead that most other TVs use or if they have something that requires a bulky transformer built into the plug somewhere. Like you get with an XBox or PS3.

Need to know how if I need to accommodate anything bulky in the wall.

cheers

Correct. I have a D8000 set that has a slimline connector (2 pin) and there is no power brick.

I think they are just a normal figure of 8 lead aka a two pin connection. No transformer or anything.

Thats correct, pretty impressed so far as well with my new D8000, make sure you buy it from somewhere offering a free 5 year warranty.

Don't buy a d8000 or any other d series unless it is very cheap. They are old models. The 2012 range is the ES series and they have normal power plugs with no transformer.

I'm seeing this on a lot of forums. Posting from the phone. I think the page loads again when you next open the browser causing a resubmittal.

Pain in the neck! Hopefully this wont do it from the PC :-)

Already answered...a few times by NorthDave in fact smile but yep, just a fig 8 connector. I bought a much longer fig 8 lead off of ebay for a couple of quid so I could sink everything in the wall and keep the original in case it all went wrong (and the fact it wasn't long enough).

Also mentioned, it's now the E range of screens, so you could pick a D8000 up for a relatively good price hopefully if you're not too worried about having the latest model.
