Cars you never see in games ?
Discussion
Having just got Forza Horizon, made me think, how come that in all the racing games avaialble across all formats you get stuff like Gumpert Apollo's and Panoz Esperante's that most of us will never see, let alone drive but you never get a MK2 Escort, a Capri of any description or say a Rover SD1 ?
We get all manner of Muscle cars, every variant of Impreza ever and even a Fiat 500 but no Chevette HSR, no Jag XJ12, no Sweeney style Granada and no Opel Manta GTE !

I was thinking about this too when trying to buy a V70 in forza 4 the other week. But then I remembered that the target market for these games is america. Hence the vast amount of american muscle cars and jap tuners, both of which are very popular state side. The european car selection is generally the top end exotica like ferraris and lambos that the US audience aspire to and see the movie stars etc driving about in.
Most americans probably are unaware of the escort.

Check out rFactorcentral - specifically the "Historic GT & Touring Cars" addin. There's plenty of videos on Youtube showing the cars involved.
Edit: I think this is the latest list of cars ingame with Historic GT but you can also get others that add in the Jaguar and Rover.

Yep, was kind of thinking that way but surely there is a market for a car pack for us Englanders.
Would sell well over here and might even bring some awareness of our back catalog to the US audience, quite a lot of classic British stuff made its way over there.
lets start a would like to see list
Austin Healey
MGB
Maestro Turbo
Lotus Cortina
Capri Injection
Vauxhall Firenza/Magnum
RS2000
RS1800
Fiesta XR2
Fiesta RS Turbo
Escort RS Turbo
Rover 800 Vitesse
MG ZT V8
Rover BRM
Austin Princess (for the comedy aspect)
Cavalier SRI 130
Sierra XR4i
Escort XR3i
Escort RS Turbo
RS Turbo
Clio Williams
205 GTI 1.9
Golf (Not Rabbit) GTI
Old Scirocco
Porsche 924/944
850 T5
I like the idea of cars we have all owned, dont even have to be any good, dont need to be based on expensive cars, I can imagine a drunken rampage in Morris Ital's with 300 bhp being really quite good fun and in the online games it would avoif the american teenagers playing bumper cars with Enzo's.

Honda Accord Type-R - Has the iconic H22 VTEC engine, a fantastic chassis which coupled with the LSD, means it can really hold its own in the corners. They seem to have every other Type R, so why not include the true underdog?
Sapphire Cosworth - The 3DR and EsCos get included, so why not have the more subtle Saffy?
I agree that a pack of cars sold here in the UK would be amazing. Escort/Fiesta RST's, Renault 5 GTT, Astra GTE....Heavenly!

This is the beauty of games like Rfactor, which allow the gaming community to build their own cars (with varying quality !)Edit: I think this is the latest list of cars ingame with Historic GT but you can also get others that add in the Jaguar and Rover.

Fyfe has already mentioned the 'Historix' GT mod for rFactor.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiUUK8VHkNs
There's also a touring car legends mod, we used these in the PH league back in 2009
