After several years of reading the forums but never posting, I thought I'd ask a quick question!
I have an old second car who's MOT has just run out (suspension rebuild taking longer than expected) - I'll prebook the MOT so I'm OK driving the car there but if it fails can I drive it home to do the required work myself or is it stuck there until it's fixed? I've read somewhere that it would be OK but wanted to check before doing it.
Cheers
Mike

The car is insured, taxed and roadworthy - I just didn't want to end up stuck there and not sure what to do next, so thanks for your replies!
As the car hasnt run for a short while I want to take it for a run first - I assume I don't need to go the shortest route to the MOT station (without going silly about it!)?

You might be best going directly to the garage and asking them to carefully warm the car up for you/rag the arse of it, before putting it through the test. sp8 said:

Within reason, of course not - just remember that the purpose of the journey is getting the vehicle to (or from) the test centre, not the weekly shopping, or doing a couple of dump trips, or popping to see relatives in the next town, etc..
