How long before we stop going?

Price rising year on year, the normal working man cannot afford to go watch his team himself now never mind take his kids.

Why are we not following the Bayern Munich route?

1. Manchester United - $2.235bn (£1.396bn)
2. Real Madrid - $1.877bn (£1.17bn)
3. Barcelona - $1.307bn (£816m)
4. Arsenal - $1.292bn (£807m)
5. Bayern Munich - $1.235bn (£770m)
6. AC Milan - $989m (£615m)
7. Chelsea - $761m (£473m)
8. Liverpool - $619m (£385m)
9. Juventus - $591m (£367m)
10. Schalke 04 - $587m (£365m)
11. Tottenham Hotspur -$564m (£351m)
13. Manchester City - $443m (£275m)

I believe Bayern pay in the region of £15- £20 per game, £300 for a season ticket.

The first thing that needs to happen is the introduction of safe-standing at games and we wont get that until you (Liverpool fans) drop this silly charade that its disrespectful to the 96. That will allow extra capacity and the potential lowering of prices. Considering The Kop stand every game and your away fans stand at every games (as do ours) I just cant see the issue and objection to it. The vast majority of fooball fans want to see a section of standing brought back into grounds.

Football as it stands is going to ruin its future as young people can no longer afford to go and will simply get out of the habit of going week in week out with their mates as its much easier and cheaper to watch it in the pub with your mates.

If you look at United now they no longer sell out, I dont think one game has sold out this season however they probably arent too concerned as once a season punters spend more on merchandise than season ticket holders.

The next problem is the foreign ownership, and the pathetic FA and Premier League who have sold our soul to the highest bidders. German ckubs have to be majority German owned and part owned by the fans, if only we had that here.

How do they generate such high revenues? As a guess after the couple of clubs listed from Germany there is a big drop off?

I'm a liverpool fan and i'm all for the reintroduction of standing. The vast majority of liverpool fans I know are also of this opinion. Think you may be mixing up the opinion of the Hillsborough family support group up with all liverpool fans. I think think they would have a point if cages still surrounded the pitches but they don't so I also say their opinion is invalid in this day and age.

In that case the minority at Liverpool are very much the vocal majority. They had a debate on talksport the other day and that idiot Alvin Martin was saying it must never be brought back and caller after caller from Liverpool agreed.

I am serious when I say you should get your own group together to push for it to be brought back as it never will until Liverpool fans say it can.

Celtic have permission to have a safe standing area at CP. From what I've read it'll be the same capacity as the seating area it would replace, so prices will remain the same I'd imagine, however it'll be easier to stand with your mates.
However there are no immediate or near future plans to implement the standing areas, after the 2014 Commonwealth games being the likely earliest.
Ticket prices are way too expensive though, it was £42 for visiting fans for Celtic v Rangers matches last season, captive market for those old matches as they could have sold them out a couple of times over, however £28 for an average home ticket is a bit pricy, especially as there are generally 15k+ empty seats at present.

Well I've been to two Bundesliga games this season, Hamburg vs Borussia Dortmund and Hannover 96 vs Werder Bremen and they were both sold out as far as I could tell. They both have standing sections behind one goal for the home fans, they have an away supporters section solely for away fans whilst also allowing home and away fans to mix in the rest of the stadium and they allow you to take your beer to your seat. The atmosphere was impressive at both games. Ticket prices were similar to what I pay to watch Newcastle at home although I think season tickets in the Bundesliga are cheaper but don't quote me on that.
I think a stand dedicated to standing supporters only would be a terrific idea for the premier league but I doubt the nanny state would allow it rolleyes

So who are you blaming exactly or just a random rant? First off it was all Liverpools fault, then Liverpools fans and now the powers that be. Pick one direction to focus your hate otherwise you'll end up having a break down!

There is not even going to be a real debate until the Liverpool fans get together and say they want it, that's step one.

If/when they do football fans as a whole and in partnership with the FSF would have to do a concerted campaign and proposal to get standing brought back. It's my opinion that the Premier League and the Police won't let it happen.

The south stand and south west corner at Sunderland is all standing supporters. Stewards and police don't tell any one to sit down unless your acting like a tit.

It wasn't the fact that there were no seats in the section at Hillsborogh that caused the tragedy, it was the fact that they were caged in and couldn't escape. Sure there would have been some injuries and maybe a few deaths from the fans crushed against the stand bars (cant remember what they were called) but if people could have spilled out onto the pitch or sideways to other sections nearly everyone would have survived. such a shame.

The Bundesliga is the best run League in Europe, were the fans seem to come first. They also have the highest average attendances in Europe - they're doing something right.

Nothing will happen in England, as fans will still buy their tickets, shirts, merchandise, etc
