I got my new 991 10 days ago. How can I tell if it's a 2012 or a 2013 model? Is there anything obvious which differentiates the two?

Thanks

The VIN (chassis number) will have the model year denoted by the 10th character. This is the format but I'm not sure what letters/numbers are used since 2009 (9):

WPOZZZ99Z9S7xxxxx

Search online for a VIN decoder but from memory W means Western Germany, P is for Porsche, 0 is for sportscars (Cayenne has a 1), the 3 Z's mean nothing, the 99 are the first two characters of the model, the Z means nothing, the 9 means MY 2009, the S means manufactured in Stuttgart (so Boxsters have a different letter, can't remember which though), the 7 is the last number of the model type (i.e. in this example a 997) and the X's will be 5 digits which relate to that specific car.

Normally Porsche changes the model year in August, after the summer break, at least in the past it was like that.

Therefore any car manufactured from Sep onwards should be MY2013, until Aug 2013.

So on that basis I should have a MY2013 car.

But the reason I posted was that I do not have album art display in my PCM, but someone on here said the 2013 cars have album art. Maybe I misunderstood something.

The tenth character on my VIN (Spyder) is B (WPOZZZ98ZBS7xxxxxx)

What does that mean?

edit - found it - 'B' = model year 1981/2011 (which is correct)
A - 2010
B - 1981, 2011
C - 1982, 2012
D - 1983, 2013
E - 1984, 2014
F - 1985, 2015
G - 1986, 2016
H - 1987, 2017
I - skipped
J - 1988, 2018
K - 1989, 2019
L - 1990, 2020
M - 1991, 2021
N - 1992, 2022
O - skipped
P - 1993, 2023
R - 1994, 2024
S - 1995, 2025
T - 1996, 2026
U - skipped
V - 1997, 2027
W - 1998, 2028
X - 1999, 2029
Y - 2000
1 - 2001
2 - 2002
3 - 2003
4 - 2004
5 - 2005
6 - 2006
7 - 2007
8 - 2008
9 - 2009

So OP's car should be a C or D.
