I've got one of these, saved my bacon a few times. Laser detector front and rear, just in case!
The only time the 'Mobile' warning goes of is if some nasty BiB or Civvie in a Scamera van points a laser thingy at you, then you brake, very quicky, weeny hard, regardless of whats behind you or the chaos that could follow.
If the laser operator is not so good and doesn't get a reading on the first pass you might just get away with it if you were not going so fast.
My RA makes me a lot more aware of my speed and I use it all the time, my driving has definitly got better.

My Road Angel failed to detect a Scamera Van on the A11 in Norfolk this afternoon.
This is actually the first time I have seen a Scamera van since owning the Road Angel.
I was accelerating to about 85MPH to overtake on a dual carriageway 70MPH section of the A11, where there are no hazards on the road. I braked hard as soon as I noticed the camera Van, but I guess I will have to wait the 14 days to find out if they got me, the bar stewards.
You're probably OK, with any any luck. The Road Angel laser detector will only signal if the laser on the camera in the van is triggered by the operator. Scamera vans can detect and measure the speed of all vehicles as they pass, when the operator detects a speeding vehicle, it still needs the camera operator to pull the trigger on the gun, pointed at your vehicle, to get a reading, thats when the RA goes nuts.
Therefore you can pass an armed and dangerous van and the RA keeps quiet, speeding or not, as long as the operator does not target you.
I'm not sure of the legal stuff but I believe they cannot target vehicles indiscriminatly, ie, every one, they have to have a judged opinion of speed though there is a mounting discusussion as to whether or not civvies are correctly authorised, 'trained' to do this or if it has to be a warranted officer, a BiB.
