Need to buy a new twin cab style pick up to ferry motorbikes, family and dog around. With offerings from Toyota, Ford, Nissan, Isuzu, Mitsubishi does anyone have experience running one day to day? They all look similar, have similar equipment levels available, so does it come down to who will do the bext deal?

That's a lovely dress, but it'd look better on my floor.

Have driven an Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max 3.0 auto for 5 years. It is a joy to drive, has been (so far) entirely reliable and very cheap to run. Will most likely replace it with the same.

Having had a L200 Warrior and a Rodeo

Its the Rodeo everytime and the only other pick up I would look at again if the needs arise.

What about the VW Amock?

Land Rover Defender. Much better residuals and way better off road.

or I'd buy a US pick up. The 2500's can be had with diesels that aren't hugely worse on fuel than a Tdi Landy. But they are much more comfy, much better specced and much faster than any UK spec truck. They also have superb residuals, so even if they use a tad more fuel your total cost of ownership is likely to be less overall and you'll end up driving a nicer, faster better vehicle too.

V8's ones can be LPG'd if you don't want a diesel wink

By far the best pick up I've driven:

(It's also the only pick up I've driven.)

We had most here at work for evaluation except the L200 as they are butt ugly and the Ford was the best to drive in most opinions with the VW next. We ended up with a bunch of Hi-Luxes as they were insanely cheap but nowhere near as good to drive. If it was my money, the Ford.

I drive a twin cab Chevy Silvarado every no and then. It's far too big even for American roads and takes up 4 parking spaces. The one I drive is lifted for a plow so looks even bigger. So, I'm going to recommend it to you for entertainment value. As 300bhp said before they hold their value if not their fuel.

that's just a proof of concept show car... a bit of fun really

This is what the F-650 chassis is really for. It's a commercial truck.

The usual LHD "The visibility is crap on our roads" can't really be trotted out wrt this one either laugh
I like that!

Given that the Rapter is as good as 2m tall I doubt visibility is going to be an issue. For reference the Rapter is 10cm taller, 30cm wider, 40cm longer than a Hilux

Mate has an Amarok (probably one of the 1st ones) and has grief with a graunchy shift when cold and a juddering clutch. Stealers are saying its TADTs though he has driven a later one that is ok on both counts.
