Following on from the ScottishPower reduction post I've just completed the same exercise with BT. Previously paying £113.50/mth for 'everything' BT Unlimited. It transpires that our real broadband usage averages between 23GB & 34GB[MAX]/mth :. now reduced to 40GB Broadband Pack + Unlimited Calls + BT Vision with a new monthly charge of £61.50 and a monthly saving of £52.00.

I can but recommend everyone spends 30mins to complete this exercise by getting BT to complete a call analysis for you. It's saved me £624 per annum + add this to the ScottishPower saving of £450 gives me a wonderful £1074 extra per year...happy days party

BT Vision would have had to have GREATLY improved since I last considered it 2 years ago for me to pay anything for it.

I've got unlimited internet, phone and sky's 'lots of channels plus HD, but not sport or films' or whatever they call it for about £40 a month.

i have international call packages included within these monthly figures.

the purpose of the post is to show others that with a little time spent one can significantly reduce monthly costs...it's meant to be a happy to help message.

I'm moving in 3 weeks so BT did this for me yesterday and took me off the unlimited download onto the 40Gb package due to past usage.

How much do they add?

Mine (40GB, line rental, unlimited call and a 4 option pack (call waiting, etc) is £30/mth. I have BT Vision but have never paid for it (they started charging for it when I last changed package but I complained and they took it off again). I used to get the option pack free but they picked that up a couple of years ago - that's £6/mth on its own.

I just switched to BT 40GB £27 per month and use the mobile for phone calls. Savings-tastic. Thinking of moving from EDF after their latest price hike - British Gas any good?

£5.20pcm which gives about 25mins of calls. i call france + other european countries each week so make a substantial saving this way.

There must be something else - if you're paying £61.50/mth you still seem to be way overpaying. http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProd...

Not at all. Re-read bt.com website again.

40GB Broadband + 24/7 Unlimited UK Call Plan + BT Vision + International Call Plan = £61.50pcm. Remember this includes line rental and VAT.

Just left BT, was £45 a month for broadband and phone. Now paying £15 for both with sky. First 6 months broadband is free then £7.50 after that.

Pay £16 ish a month for phone, line and broadband. With EE (as of today, was Orange)

Unlimited broadband, about 7Mbs download speed - fast enough for iplayer. I have quite a few included calls too, including international, but tend to use the free minutes on my mobile or email as the mates I have who live abroad live far enough away for the time difference to be a pain.

O2 pay me to use their Broadband! smile

Signed up to unlimited broadband for a year at £12.50/mth through Quidco and got £100 cashback. Then O2 pointed out that as a mobile customer I get a 50% discount = £6.25/mth, so I'm £25 in credit for a year's internet.

On top of this, BT line rental is £120/yr of course.
