Is it just me? Seems to be quite a few for mid to low 30s (or, within conceivable haggling there of) 996 gt3s, even a few mk1 and mk2 clubsports.

Time of year maybe?

Getting sorely tempted for my next move.

Yep, some bargains out there at the minute.

As usual there's loads to check for though to ensure you don't buy into a load of pending bills and you'll actually find that Mk1 Clubsports in good colours are few and far between. Loads of comforts with buckets etc though, if the rarity of a genuine clubbie doesn't matter to you.

Only MK1 Clubsports I've seen lately are the red one mentioned the other day, which did look great value and the silver Paul Stephens one at £40k, £42k or £44k depending on the level of prep/support you want from them, but it's silver and many people prefer the brighter colours.

I'm still feeling very lucky to have found mine as nothing since for the price has come up that is as nice.
Mine is a MK1 Clubsport in red, with factory colour coded centre console and £7.5k spent in the last 1000 miles.

They are great cars and nowhere near as hard to live with as some people go on about on here. It all depends on what you're used to though. I've come from hanging off sports bikes and twitchy bike engined racecars so anything seems luxurious to me. wink

Very seasonal cars though. I know mine is about to come off the road for winter. Infact it pretty much is now really.

Time of year, end of trackday season, owners facing a winter with no usage, a lot of cash tied up in the garage...Whatever, it happens every year!

You watch, the amount of 996 GT3`s for sale on PH`s, will also now drop in numbers available into the high teens and low 20`s for the winter. Some of the same old ones will hang around in the hope that they will attract a bargain hunter or get lucky punter early next year.

Then come spring, the number of them for sale will go up again and prices will rise... Nothing new!

Great cars and one hell of a bargain! driving

(GT3 owner that has seeen this happen each of the last 5 winters)

Yep - winter is a great time to buy one of these cars. I paid £64k for my late GT3 from OPC Belfast in August last year with a 24 month warranty. It had 6000 miles on it. They even paid for new front discs and pads 2 months later.

Yep, definitely mate. Look forward to seeing it.

SY or guards were my two top colours when I decided I wanted a Mk1. I love Cobalt on the MK2s mind. That's what Mikes is actually isn't it.

How's yours anyway? Is that it for the winter now?

Ordered that Samco air hose you showed me on yours. Could have had the blue one straight away but I'm waiting 4 weeks for the matt black one. £35, happy days. smile

I still can't help thinking the good cars are few & far between.

Ask ade, marky, slippy & the other GT3'officiandos on here, those with the good ones won't be selling for peanuts.

mines 39k if anyone is interested :-) be 42k in spring.
if ones cheaper it either needs work or has done loads of miles

it's that simple.

no such thing as a bargin GT3, these things swallow money like any thing.

always a strange market and why I kept away from the 997 due to prices and work done on them. (lack of work) :-)

Morning David, don't get too excited, the £35 Samco hose is just a 90mm (bore) diameter, 90 degree section of silicone hose which enables the fitting of the early Cup car air filter, made by BMC.
I don't know if the filter is still available but I'm sure an equivalent cone filter is available somewhere.

K+N do a kit but it costs £500! Which is a bit much for an air filter.
My car came with the Cargraphic/BMC cup filter but it is connected via a section of carbon fibre intake hose which is too brittle to get it tightened properly, hence Ade pointed me in the direction of the nice squidgy Samco one that you can nip up properly.
The pipe itself comes in loads of colours but I want mine to look as stock as possible hence I'm waiting for a matt black one.

No gains in power, infact some would argue it could lose you a touch due to taking in hot air from the engine bay, but the sound is awesome! I'm going to look into sorting a heatshield/surround to ensure the filter only gets the cold air from the drivers side aperture in the engine lid, as this is where the filter sits under.

Hi Lee. Yep, I have recently bought the GT3. I received a surprise offer for my 964T in the summer from a forum member and after my fruitless C2 search during last winter I decided to let it go. Here's my thread from when I bought the GT3. It has a few pics, from past and present, although I need to make the effort and take some better ones.

Ade Bloomin' eck! You don't do things by halves. Are you raising the rev limit like the Cup cars or just leaving it where it is?

Be sure to post some details up on here of the build. I read Fioranos thread with interest the other week and will be interested to see exactly what bits you go for during the build.
There can't be much left to sort on your car after that, since it's also had the box rebuild etc. Nice one. thumbup
