Maybe you've always wished that your local purveyor of pizza would deliver you an onion bhaji and pineapple pizza?

Or maybe you've always craved sausage, egg and bacon wrapped up in a large garlic naan, as you emerge from an evening on the sauce.

Perhaps a portion of chips with a pot of custard to dip them is the future?

Whether a flavoursome coming-together of existing offerings or a completely new takeaway format, share your takeaway ideas.

What tickles your taste buds?

I'd love to get Fish and Chips how I got it when I was small (about 40 years ago!), in newspaper with real salt (trust me, salt now isn't salt as it was), real vinegar (check out the ingredients-few chip shops use actual vinegar now) with a carton of curry sauce. Proper chip shop curry, not the Chinese or Indian ones now.

Don't get me wrong, I like Chinese and Indian food as much as the next man, but you asked for my "prefect new takeaway". Well, it is my old takeaway!

Restaurant style naan bread which is nice and thick, chewy, with blistered bubbles, slightly sweet brushed with garlic butter. This would be used as a base for a large donner kebab. The donner would be straight off the spit. Slightly crisped up so it gives some bite and colour. Copiously piled up with some lettuce and sliced onions to cut through the grease. Served with chilli sauce and mango chutney.

Many moons ago after a dry ken evening at uni in hull I ordered a bolognaise burger. It turned out to be a normal burger, but with bolognaise on top! Was utterly awesome! Haven't ever seen it since and was too drunk to remember where it came from!

That sounds great, I had a burger once with Donner meat on it and was amazing, none of the places round my way do it and last time I asked for some extra they stung me.

This takes me back , I co-owned a fresh fish business in south London in the mid sixties, on one side of the street ( it was a busy street market with stalls either side of the road) was the fresh fish and opposite was the fried fish shop. All the fish used in the fish`n`chip shop was prepped in the "wet" shop, this entailed filleting everything that was then taken across the street , plaice, cod , haddock all on the bone and cut to 6 ounce portions and sold at one and six or two bob a time ,haddock at 2/6d and chips ( king Edwards at £1 a cwt sack ) were a tanner , trading time was from 11 am to 3pm then 5 pm to 11 pm . Large skate wings were skinned by hand and produced "middles " ,also at 2/6d a throw. If after the days trading there was fried fish not sold this was taken back to the wet shop and sold next day ....cold fried fish with pickled onion or piccalilli ....yummy !!!

Was a long day too, up at four to get to Billingsgate .( The original market near London Bridge )

Weekly takings were averaging £400.

My local sells (and delivers for £1) pizza at £6 for a large one, fish and chips, burgers, fried chicken and all manner of kebabs. Not bad!

Donner burgers are quite common here in Peterborough! I'd offer to send you one, but by the time Royal Mail got one to you I don't think you'd want it!!

It's usually non-brewed condiment which is the norm for chip shops now.

My Sympathy for you (living in Peterborough) . Mind you, the very best Fish and Chips I've ever had, were served up day in and out , at the chippy across
the road from the Cock inn, on Lincoln rd Werrington . They were the only people for miles who still fried in lard, absolutely brilliant.

Long gone now though , the place has been through several hands since the owner died, burgers that kind of thing. The pub is a sthole now as well , bit like most of Peterborough . Times change, sadly so at times.

I want a German takeaway (known over there as a "schnellimbiss" which translates as 'quick snack').

Jaegerschnitzel (large breaded veal/pork escalope smothered in mushroom sauce
Frikadelle (bit like a big hamburger/meatball, but more delicious)
Bratwurst (flamed grilled sausage served with Senf (mustard) and a very different taste/texture to any sausage you've had)
Bockwurst (like a hot dog only better)
Currywurst (a Bratwurst chopped up and covered in a curry ketchup)
Halb Hänchen (half a chicken, usually rotisseried)
Fisch (white fish, usually rectangular, a bit like six fish fingers stuck side by side...!)

and of course...

Pommes mit Mayo (Chips with mayonnaise)

Mexican seems to be a bit of an untapped and potentially profitable takeaway concept in the UK but I'd settle for being able to get decent fish and chips after 8pm.

I was about to post exactly that.

A few years ago I was at my cousins house and exactly that happened. I couldn't believe it and it was really good.

The only downside is that it was in LA.

As has been answered, "vinegar" now tends to be not vinegar; Water, Citric Acid,Caramel E150 and Salt.
I did cheat, by checking a bottle.
