It's cheaper but has twice the UK amount of Ethanol in it, which some cars don't agree with.

Might be worth a detour to Luxembourg, as it is LOTS cheaper there.

Recently had a week in Normandy. The price of Diesel in France is actually cheaper than French unleaded, and much cheaper than ours full stop. On the motorways diesel works out at around £1.27/litre, and at the Supermarches £1.12/litre - paradise!

Yup, cheaper in France, top up there before you come back too! Cité Europe Shopping Centre has a service station in the ground floor of the car park, it's cheap and right next to the tunnel.

Depends where you fill up, but yes France is cheaper.

Boulogne on Saturday -- filled up at an Esso petrol station 1.47 EUR/litre for diesel, which worked out at £1.28 at the exchange rate we were using (~1.15 EUR/GBP). So saved about £8.25 on 55l of fuel, which paid for a third of my return ferry ticket.

However, then about 5 minutes later drove past a Carrefour supermarket which was selling diesel at 1.35 EUR/litre! So could have saved much more if I had known about the price variance, which I couldn't have at the time.

Either way, cheaper to do it there than in England.
