Cayman S - 2006 Trade Value
Discussion
What's your thoughts on the trade value of a 2006 Cayman S with all sensible options except Sports Exhaust.
January 2006 Cayman S
39,000 miles.
Guards Red
Extended Leather interior.
PCM
PASM
Sports Seats (Heated)
Cruise Control
19 inch sport designs
Next Service 2014.
p.s. its in immaculate condition.
I got bid £15,000 from a BMW dealer. Personally I think its a tad too low, given what's for sale on Autotrader at the moment. There isn't a car that's as well specced and presented as mine for anywhere below 20k.
See a pic on my profile.
Cheers chaps.
Just for reference, this isn't an attempt to sell it on here, I just want to see what people genuinely think its worth.

I wouldn't expect a trade bid of much more than £16.5 for that to be honest - they have a margin to make. It's a nice car and a good example by the look of it, but it's a depressed market and a bad time to take on sports coupes I'd have thought, so not that surprised. My 08 car, almost identical spec, lower miles (just) I wouldn't expect to get much more than 20 for trade.
If you've got an Iphone or android check out the My Car Check application, it'll give you a good idea based against the guides.
I've done my car 2007 Cayman 2.7 and it books at:
Forecourt: £17,927
Private sale: £15,148
Trade in: £14,592
It's worth a quick look so you don't get pumped at the dealers.

Guards Red has limited appeal, so you may have been marked down for that reason.
WHAT!!!??? All Porsches should be Guards Red, Viper Green, Tangerine Orange or Speed Yellow - people shouldn't buy what they think are good "re-sale colours" who is the car for you or the next bloke?

ouch that really hurts.. have an 06 CS myself and was thinking about trading it in for a m3... prices have really dropped considering i bought it a year ago!
True enough, but you have to remember, if you buy from the trade, 20% is VAT, so factor that in too, plus the fact that if you sell back to trade they'll have to spend money on the car, and then turn a profit...Chrisp5782 said:

Be careful what guides its based against. Parkers is NOT glasses.I've done my car 2007 Cayman 2.7 and it books at:

I generally found - Industry uses Glasses, public use Parkers and there are some SHOCKING differences.
Also - for the sake of a few hundred quid don't hold out for a better deal, your car will be depreciating every month and that poor offer now will only get poorer as time goes on.

VAT is applied to the whole amount on new cars but only the mark-up on secondhand cars. With regard to new cars, everybody other than lease companies has to pay it, so it's locked into the resale price anyway.
Given 911v have a GR 2.7 Cayman on for £20ish the px value sounds about right. I think it looks great in Guards

I stand corrected - didn't realise that (though, thinking about it, logic dictates it). With regard to new cars, everybody other than lease companies has to pay it, so it's locked into the resale price anyway.

It's not just about re-sale value; it's about the 'stand out' effect as well.
Not everybody wants to say "Hey, look at me!".
If that is the case- surely the converse must also be true? Not everybody wants to say "Hey, look at me!".
Not everyone wants bland colours.
In my case it's not the hey look at me factor- simply that IMHO the car looks good in guards red. Also if it makes it more conspicuous- perhaps safer- no?
