996TT - Making it sound better
Discussion
Love my Turbo but miss a bit of growl. Don't really want to start spending £000s on a shiny new exhaust, mine is in good condition and also had the nice tips so happy to keep it. Was thinking I could de-cat, bit more power and a better sound, what do you think?
I've a friendly MOT station so not concerned about that. Is it worth de-catting completing? What would I need to do to achieve this? and finally would it sound better or am I wasting my time?

You can pick up a full system second hand for around £1000, and most 996 exhuasts dont come with tips - you transfer those over. I ran a Milltek on mine for around a year and that sounded great.
Unsure if changing the Cats for sports units (100/200 cell) would give a better sound, but removing the cats completely should, and is certainly the cheapest option too.

Here is the 6speed article on the turbo exhaust mod, on the 2nd page he shows a diagram.
I was going to do it but ended up with a Gemballa exhaust.

Amazing how things change. Drilling holes in exhausts was a mod the Corsa brigade were laughed at for. Listening to the sound on the link and it sounds as it should do.

Just saying and not having a go.
