Hi chris, im going to come down and watch, (hopefully grab a passenger ride) trying to find out about how strict the rules are on road car track day. Are you allowed any mods to our cars etc!! Cheers. Gavin.
I phoned and asked. So long as it doesn't arrive on the back of a trailer, it's taxed and can be legally driven on the road you can take it on track. There will be a few of us in Lotus cars, one of them a heavily modified Audi turbo S1. If you are worried give them a call.

That's certainly not what I have heard about the conditions for these track days, including no race license holders!
Race licenses are a big no no on track days with all organisers. The idea is to get normal road car drivers out on circuit, regardless of car or ability. Most ARDS license holders wouldn't do this sort of day anyway. keeling54 said:

How does that work with Track Day organisers who offer ARDS tests as part of their track day? If you pass the test, they kick you off? Surely not.Edit, just to prove I'm not mad:

That's not true. A normal opl is open to everyone (including people that hold a race licence - just no timing allowed). To be honest, i prefer a normal opl as the standard of driving is usually higher.Edit to say; msv do say that no one with a race licence can take part on a road car only track day

Sorry thats so far from the truth ! The average track day I would estimate has at least 20% race license holders , not to mention the major teams who come along and treat it as a "shakedown" , this is precisely why MSV are doing the road car days only and why they are trying to be quite strict about the sort of cars that turn up using phrases like " must not resemble a racing car" on the website and in comms. Dont get me wrong I think its the right idea to create a safe less intimidating environment for road car drivers but my understanding is that just because its driven to the curcuit doesnt mean it would be eligable ( wrc car anyone?)
That's not been my experience, quite a few quick drivers but I've never been on one full of race drivers and slick tyred race cars, maybe I've just been lucky. I only quoted what the MSV guy told me when I phoned and asked.
