Good luck with that...have had the same problem with mine. Had the ECU checked out at re-man and no faults appeared. Check all the earths, especially near the ignition switch. I fixed mine with a new battery...it was a couple of years old and seemed ok. Still dont have a reliable cruise control so am about to try a new genuine brake switch to see if thats the problem!? No warning lights at the moment though so fingers crossed! Please post how you get on?
Here's an update for you......
Having spent a lot of time with this problem, new brake switch, Reman all the ECU's, overhauled the brake system and ABS sensors, checked every connection and joint I could find, I gave up. The faults kept appearing no matter what I did. So I took it to the main dealer who has serviced her since new bar one unfortunate incident with a so called expert.
I simply cannot be more impressed with the great service I received! They stuck with the old girl through thick and thin all for an agreed price. With 180,000 miles it simply is not worth more than £1500.00 so my budget was half that. After 3 weeks during which they lent me a new E and tried to sell it to me..... It turned out the fault was the headlight switch!! All is now well in my world and the customer service I received from Mercedes Norwich is way beyond my expectation. I doubt they made anything out of me this time but they certainly made me happy!
See sometimes the main dealer is your friend.... Cheers guys.
