Best Air box on the Market?
Discussion
Hi guys
I am looking to replace my old original air box with something different. Is there various ones to choose from or is it simply the ACT one?
Also other than looks and weight are there any performance related figures to be gained as a result of better air flow etc. Any help advice would be great.
Cheers
Mr Lock Pick
P.S just a quick note to you all, please MAKE sure that you are all secured up prior to Christmas etc. The scum burglars always increase their work load this time of year. Make sure your secure.

Unless you're prepared to pay for all the amendments clive f is making, including re-map, then there's the ACT one, and the ACT one !!
Jason at Str8Six has had one or two specials made - for the Supercharged Sag for example - but you're talking about £3k minimum. From a design point of view, the original design is very good apparently.
Hi Mike
I have told Jason how amazing his air box looks on that sag of his but I ain't got that sort of cash at the moment o splash out on an air box matey. Are you referin to the mod that Clive has done to his original air box?
I notice Clive has got that pipe picking up air from the front, but I dont know if his air box is the original or not!

It WAS original. He put a 'scoop' on the bottom pick up pipe, put a front pipe into it leading from the front splitter, changed the top half to be hand crafted aluminium, changed the throttle body entry tubes to be shorter, altered the throttle body butterfly clamps to make them thinner, chamfered the throttle bodies to smooth air flow entry from the airbox tubes, and had it fully re-mapped.
He's not quite finished yet as he's pretty much redesigned the entire exhaust post-CAT !!
By the way, Jason says there's very little to be gained from all thsi airbox jiggery pokery. Clive is getting some gains, but no more than about 10% really iirc.

I am not making airboxes at all, the one I made for myself in stainless was to Joolz spec, as he has done a lot of research and dyno time tesing different inlet lengths ect.
Brendan is making some in carbon for Joolz, he needs to huury up
you can contact joolz about a carbon airbox at kitsandclssics@googlemail.com
we found gains of 20bhp were to be had by swapping over airboxes, the alternative is the Act airbox.
I played around with a scoop just to see what would happen, cant resist the odd experiment, this is not included on the new design airbox, its just a new top section with shorted inlet tracts but all in nice carbon, the standard bottom section remains, this is hardly seen anyway.
10% is an excellent return mike, you`d be looking at 35-37bhp on a standard car with 10% imporvement

Yes, the CF ones Brendan is producing look very nice. Based on Joolz's work and his own.
Two designs as Clive has said. Should be ready sometime early next year based on the schedule I
have for fitting them in mine.
I have pics of it and some details of the spec, but can't share them as I was asked not to until
the product is released for real.
Very nice piece of kit though

Sorry Clive, I didn't mean to diss your excellent work - you know I have nothing but respect for you

I shouldn't have said 'only' 10% should I ? 10% on top of 370 would be very welcome !!
