Good that they're making one this time.

I can't get over how much better the back end looks with the rear spoiler turned into a lip style one! I don't know if it's just covering the coupes spoiler but they should keep it like that

whether you like it or not ( I think it looks better in the flesh) they won't drop it in a hurry - they made a big deal about how much of an achievement it was to make the boot in one piece CF with the integrated spoiler and the gap between

I hope this doesn't mean they're going to do one on all new cars then. The DBS lip spoiler looks so much better imo. A One-77 style retractable spoiler would be a better option too.

Well thats one of the two rumoured new models for next year. Wonder what the price on that will be - north of £200k in base spec which IMO makes the DB9 Volante a bargain IMO.

I agree totally. At the factory launch/preview event I went to, they really did go overboard about the fact they designed it first, then were tasked with trying to make it and that it was a real achievement. IIRC it's been mentioned in a release/video since too - as a consumer, it really doesn't come across as such an impressive feat but I have no idea from a manufacturing point of view how difficult it actually is

Also, unless Vantage replacement is to be clothed in CF (which to me is something of a gimmick as it appears to have made negligible weight savings ?), I'm not sure it would have this type of spoiler ?

Perhaps worth pointing out that for all the posturing about getting the aero just right on V12VR and the bigger boot spoiler, I get the impression there is not nearly as much work on the splitters/spoilers/etc on Astons in direct respect of actual perfomance gains as we might think

I think vanquish volante and facelifted rapide are pretty much a given for 2013

But unless they are going to launch a genuinely new new car, i.e. in addition to the existing range, I just can't see them not launching a new Vantage next year. I think they will want to announce an actual new car in their centenary year and I think it's way too early in the life of vanquish for it to be a Vanquish S

I don't see a limited edition cosmetically enhanced DB9, Vantage, etc cutting the mustard and that includes if they do a run-out edition of V12V. I'm not sure a volante version of an existing car (vanquish or zagato) would either, hence as you know, my thinking new Vantage (facelifted or new new) will be the next major announcement

We havent had DB9 or V8 Vantage Ultimate Editions yet ..or V12V for that matter !!

I'm sure everyone in AM is aching to launch something new and exciting for the centenary year. Whether they've got the money to do so is another matter...

Also further proof to me that the basic wheel choice is the nicest. Maybe in the darker finish, but still much better than the fussy optional wheel in most of the press shots.
