In a word, fantastic.

We had one of the suites in the new block in the outside courtyard and it was lovely, my only complaint being the pillows as I can't sleep on duck/goose down and like cheap and nasty polyester ones from Ikea. smile

Obviously the main reason you go is for the food and that is top notch, probably the nicest I've ever had.

I thought everywhere was pricey fro Christmas Day? Isn't it the one day of the year (+ perhaps new years eve) when you are going to get shafted on price. Even pretty ropey pubs and restaurants around my way are charging £60 a head when normally it would be £15.

Granted, but £150 per head plus drinks!?

That's a very fair proportionate hike for Christmas Day. It is a Michelin starred restaurant after all (has been for a good long while now) and a very good one at that. A marvellous atmosphere in wonderful surroundings. Believe me, it's worth it. Period.

I once ate a pigeon main course at the Y.A. that was so fine I'd happily pay £150 to smell a photo of the man who cooked it.

It was awesome. Stopped the night in a lovely room, superb meal and lovely wine though I think a pint of black sheep cost me a tenner. Oh well still money will spent.

Superb road on the way there as well.

Whilst that it is a hefty sum, it's not as much mark-up as more run of the mill places.

Having said that, I'm not sure the Yorke Arms would be the best place to go for Christmas dinner, the food looks fantastic but perhaps not what I would call 'Christmas Fayre' - I'm not sure I would fancy jus on my turkey (I guess I'm just a boring old traditionalist who looks forward to sprouts, bread sauce and pigs in blankets).

I do like pigs in blankets though lick

I think you are correct, I think a meat 'n three veg pile it high pub meal is the order of the day rather than over rich food

Hmmm pigs in blankets.

I agree though, Christmas dinner should be smoothered in gravy not jus.

I've been past plenty of times but never eaten there, looks nice.

I think we might just try that.
