This is a new one on me...

I started ther car as usual yesterday and 15 seconds later it stalled (nothing unusual there when its cold).
However when I restarted the steering had gone heavy.
It can still be driven, but has no assistance at all.

I have bought some more fluid in case that has leaked, (which I admit I haven't yet checked) but are there any other common problems I should have a look for?

Thanks

The fuse located in the battery box can get corroded and go. Mine went that way so simply replaced it with a watertight fuse holder and lots of tape. 80A I think. Could be the relay also.

Check the relay is secure and dry - it's in that grey thing by the oil tank. Whilst you have it unplugged check for voltage. To eliminate the strip fuse & main fuse board fuses. Unplug the connector that has the red tab on it for the ps pump -check for voltage here going to the pump out of the relay, if there was voltage on the loom side of the relay plug. Don't forget to put the relay back in first!

Main board fuse (shared with the lambda sensors)

This should tell you what needs replacing, hopefully not the ps pump!
