The EVO triangle is all very well, but a lot of us don't live in Wales and sometimes need a "quick fix" on a good local road. Anyone got any good recommendations in the Bucks/Berks area? (Marlow/Henley/Amersham etc)

Pirbright bends aren't too far away. Or the B3349 between Reading and Hook is a nice windy road but can often have lots of traffic on it.

I did this route at the weekend. Good if you are early enough/have a car which can overtake easily.

A339 Alton to Basingstoke and A33 north from Basingstoke are both well known for Talivan activity. frown

Not that many from my experience, but the few ones are really good (funnily all around Henley):
  • The whole A4115 between Marlow and Henley
  • 2-3 mile A4115 bit between Shiplake and Caversham
  • A4130 between Henley and A404 is quite good too

Ah-ha!

Try:

Thame to Bicester on the B4011. Outstanding, fast well sighted with some proper elevation changes, fast corners and some good straights for overtaking ....

Thame to Waddesdon (on the Chearsley / Winchendon / Main Road) - can be linked to the above and at a slower pace, provides amazing views for passengers!

Thame to Postcombe and onto the old A40 (up Stokenchurch Hill) to Marlow via Lane End or reverse it and link it (Marlow to Bicester via Thame). smile

All ruined by speed limits and slow movers when in NSL frown

MadMark911 & markiebabes you legends!, the Postcombe to Thame road and the B4011 from Thame to Bicester are absolutely superb! Had an epic drive yesterday. Roof down, heated seats on (the luxury of owning a Boxster and not an Elise!) freezing but sunny, lovely views and fast and well sighted. Fantastic stuff - and right on my doorstep.

Hopcroft Holt to Burford
http://goo.gl/maps/5eIJc

B-Roads galore and a occasionally featured by Clarkson in various TG features. Starts at the Hopcroft Holt Hotel North of Oxford and cuts through to Enstone and down to Charlbury, onto Burford. Coincidentally takes you past not one, but x2 existing F1 bases: Lotus/Renault (Enstone) and the Old Arrows_Super Aguri_now_Caterham factory just north of Burford.
The best bit? Stopping for a cuppa in Burford and coming back wink

Anyone else know it?

Yep, know it very well - I live a stone's throw from one end of that route.

I prefer the Burford - Stow road, but that's a bit pointless in this thread as the OP wanted roads in Bucks, not Gloucs!

I know this road very well! Great road to hoon across to the Sir Charles Napier restuarant a Chinnor before taking the long way home!!

I would suggest most of the B-roads coming away from Reading up through the Wolds towards Cheltenham are good roads if you have something capable of plenty of over taking if you're planning on going for a hoon at anytime throughout the day

Found this gem of a road this morning: A creative way of going from Wantage to Reading.

Very nice. The rest of the B4494 is excellent too. Beware of deer on the road above Lockinge south of the Ridgeway crossing.

B4000/Ermin Street is good, if straight.
A361 might be in Gloucs but is well worth the trek IMHO

A413 from aylesbury to buckingham is a favourite for the 2 wheeled and 4 wheeled petrol heads.

The police use it as a training route for both 2 and 4 wheeled vehicles.
