Sorry about the rubbish pic, always lots of speculation about what badges to put on cars.

This is technically accurate!

My Car Check lists as:

1989 3.2 Carrera Supersport.

Looks like it has a Carrera SS decal on the engine lid.

How do you get away with the black and silver plate?

I think on a 'M' its period and therefore ok. Even though the car is newer and its a private plate, the fuzz won't notice.

I got pulled because of black and silver number plates running a 1978 'S' reg. So don't be too sure. Particularly with ANPR

Molly, pretty sure the last legal black and silver was in 72 on a L plate. Could be wrong though.

No you are right. L reg 1972/3. Has to be pre 1973

Same here i had Black & Silver plates on my SSE and got a pull.
I also got marked down in a concours competition for having the plates on.
Not mention the club suffice to say i have not been a member since.

To be precise/pedantic a vehicle has to have either been registered before 1/1/1973 or constructed before that date to have white/silver/grey on black plates. Quite how you prove your car is constructed before 1/1/73 could be tricky.

So all 'K's and some early 'L's are definitely OK. In practice who knows what your average copper actually enforces.

Many years ago on our first date my future wife got pulled by police for having white on black plates on her 'K' reg Viva. I had to explain afterwards that they might have got it wrong...

Awesome picture!..... I want those wingmirrors.

Yes 1973 is the latest for black/silver plates but It would have to be a real jobsworth police officer to give me a fine after me being polite about why I have them on the car.

I love that one (I've got bloomin loads of them!), I think it kind of shows just how much do-do the company was in back then, how old was the rsr by then, knocking on 15 years? & it was still what folk were using in top level motorsport! Well either that or it was so good I guess.

The 3.2 clubbie that I stupidly didn't buy a few years ago had loads of correspondence from the factory & it was porsches hope that they could get some teams running a new model in racing that pushed them to release it.
