I've had my new Road Angel for the last couple of weeks now and have found it very good in operation. A much nicer bit of kit than the original version too! You get the first 6 months subscription free and then have the option to subscribe for 1 year at 49GBP, 2 years at 79GBP or 3 years at 99GBP. I went for the RA because I got a blinding deal on it although an B2 would have been nice as its a fair bit smaller.

Cheers,

Steve

I can't really comment on the difference between the two, thought I did find these devices don't work so well if you leave them on your desk ands then drive home late at night getting flashed on the way

36 mph in a 30 and NIP arrived within 3 days - what an efficient lot the Thames Valley police are - adding another 3 poinbts to my total

I have a B2 and it is brilliant. Tiny little thing. Subs are 50 GBP a year, but you get first 6 months free. However, the quick release system is magnetic and doesn't look like it would cope with the ride and g-forces I associate with a Caterham (after owning two). Not sure about new Road Angel. Thought the old one and the first Origin (which I had) were too bulky.

pcd, remember that Caterhams these days have heated front screens, and this may play havoc with where you mount the GPS antenna (it won't pick up through the screen). Maybe try blatchat.com and see what the guys there do.

PS Congrats on a great purchase; I trust it is an R400

Road Pilot was review in one of the mags as a better device. Worth checking out, I've had one for @ 9 months, very good not complaints. I Still use use a detector as well as a Laser defuser. All worth it and have saved me many, many times.

Yup, by cigar lighter but can be hard-wired for the flusher fitting look. I'll be going down this route soon.

R500... nice one.

You won't hear the audible warnings in an r500 too easily (or in any seven for that matter) so make sure the b2 is in line of sight when the xmas tree lights go off.

you could have gone via www.everythingincar.com and paid £360 (inc del). useful for others to note if you've done the deed...

You may want to investigate putting some velcro on the back of the device, and some more on the cradle, as in my RS (which is as stiff as a stiff thing that's been in the freezer), the fecker keeps jumping out of its cradle then spends 5 secs getting a sat lock. Geting f'ing annoying after a while. Origin did issue some stronger magnets to keep the unit located in the cradle, but these weren't a lot stronger.

Note to self... fit some suspension to the car...

£360...damn gave a little more than that but not to worry!!
Ive noticed as already mentioned above that it doesnt like staying in the cradle, I think a strong elastic band should sort it out.........
I loosly rigged it up last night for a test drive, at 130 metres before Gatso it beeped, flashed and did its business, very impressive bit of kit.............they really have moved on, the last detector I had about 10 years ago, used to beep non stop and was very irritating.

I have the first model of Road Angel and it's never been used - still brand new. Since I spend most of my time in Europe, anyone interested in buying it? Email me if you are.

Can you link one of those lazer things that you put under your registration plate which send out signals so they can't speed gun you in to the B2?

Or do you have to get them separate? or buy a machine gun.

Yes. The LRC100 laser jammer can interface with the B2, but it is best not to connect them together.

I have an LRC and B2 fitted independently - this is the advice I was given. Apparently you can experience problems when the two are mated, despite their connectivity in theory.

The LRC100 must be purchased separately in any case. I paid over 200 GBP for mine on ebay, new price is about 350 GBP.

You get a laser detector (note not jammer) with the B2 as standard. I got the LRC100 jammer as a novelty to see if it worked, and so far it has just had a few false alarms. I think it is quite a sensitive install, and mine may need looking at.

A machine gun would be no use as they would have detected your speed before the bullets reached them

Thanks Dom for the info.

Any one had good experiences with jammers, more concerned about mobile speed gun units rather than the gatsos.

Also any recommendations for fitters in the North West, Liverpool/Manchester area.
